We are looking for a dedicated HSSEQ Officer to join our team in Chennai. This permanent role requires sailing experience as a Chief Officer and a commitment to maintaining the highest HSSEQ standards. Key Responsibilities:
1. Promoting A Strong, Pro-Active Safety Culture
2. Ensure the Company’s Safety Culture is promoted and maintained to the highest possible standards, in all locations, through:
- Active engagement with all employees on HSSEQ-related issues
- Participate in & provide input to HSSEQ-related meetings and inspections
- Actively promote the application of all Company Control of Work processes and safe working practices
- Implementing and promoting the company’s ‘Key Behaviours of Great Safety Leaders’
3. Analysis & Reporting of Performance Data
- Provide insight to analysis of relevant HSSEQ performance data
- Provide support for programs to address or support performances
- Identification of performance trends and proposals of corrective plans & program
4. Incidents & Emergencies
- Support emergency response activities in actual and simulated emergency scenarios
- Provide HSSEQ-focused support during investigation of Accidents, Incidents & HiPo Near Misses, where required
- Support timely publication of Bulletins and Alert
5. Continual Improvement
- Identify opportunities for development of HSSEQ systems and programs
- Deliver initiatives for continual improvement of engagement in HSSEQ activities
- Identify and support technological innovation of HSSEQ programs and systems
6. Compliance & Certification
Support cluster HSSEQ Managers to ensure;
- customer relations and satisfaction are continually maintained to ensure flawless service delivery
- timely completion of all required audits and inspections, and the retention of associated certification/licenses
- relevant standards, procedures and best practices are correctly implemented or adopted
- minimal potential legislative, operational, and administrative non-conformity
- the V.MS meets the requirements of all parties and any proposed amendments to internal documents are effectively passed to relevant Group function heads
- where specific V.MS content is required to be compiled or amended, assist the relevant function head to submit and close such amendments
- all findings & actions are managed & effectively closed out within agreed timeframes
7. HSSEQ Support
- Ensuring sufficient, timely, and efficient administrative support to the HSSEQ team in delivery functional duties and expectations
- Understudy HSSEQ Managers to provide resilience in the function, and to develop personal skills and experience for future growth
- Actively partake in shore- and vessel-based safety meetings to encourage constructive discussion and drive management engagement
8. Development & Evolution
- Identify opportunities for growth & development of the HSSEQ function, to ensure capabilities and means of delivery are continually improved
- Where required, assist in specific projects such as; management & maintenance of ShipSure process, and ShipSure BI analytics and insight ; providing function-specific input to internal development projects; development and implementation of safety initiatives
9. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Performance against published HSSEQ KPI’s and metrics
- Performance against industry assurance programs (e.g., TMSA, OVMSA etc.)
- Performance against industry accreditation programs (e.g., ISM, ISPS etc.)
- Performance against industry inspection programs (e.g., PSC)
- Recognised qualification in relevant field
- Strong, clear communication and administrative skills, especially in regard to maintenance of HSE standards
- Experience of interfacing with clients and meeting their demands in relation to implementation and management of HSSEQ-specific aspects
- Significant experience in engaging and collaborating with multinational / multicultural teams
